2025

ICDS-33 at Fudan University in Shanghai, China (25.09.14-19)

Jaewook, Huijin, Taejoon, Hosung, Yonghyun, and Hyeonsu  (from left to right) attended ICDS-33 held at Fudan University in Shanghai, China, where we had an opportunity to present our research achievements. Despite the hot weather, the unique scenery and delicious food of Shanghai made the experience truly enjoyable. Above all, we are deeply grateful to Taejoon, the only Chinese speaker in our lab, for his tremendous help.

중국 상하이 푸단대학교에서 열린 ICDS-33에 함께 참여하고, 연구 성과를 발표하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 더운 날씨였음에도 불구하고, 상하이 고유의 풍경과 맛있는 음식 덕분에 매우 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다. 무엇보다 우리 연구실의 유일한 중국어 구사자(!)인 태준에게 감사를 표합니다.

Participated in the Niels Bohr Summer School (Aug 11–22, 2025) at the Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark

Huijin Park has completed a summer school program at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, the birthplace of quantum mechanics. 

It was a valuable experience that provided numerous opportunities to connect with quantum researchers from around the world.

고등학생들을 위한 양자컴퓨팅 교육 프로그램

Our lab participated in a high school quantum computing education program supported by the Quantum Information Research Support Center. In July, we collaborated with Daejin High School in Bundang and Shinhan High School in Pyeongtaek, and in August, we worked with Hongcheon High School in Gangwon. We would like to express our gratitude to Taejoon Park and Jaewook Lee for their dedicated assistance as teaching assistants throughout the program :)

International Symposium on Quantum Materials (25.07.04)

We hosted an international symposium on quantum materials at SKKU. Professor Alexander Demkov (UT Austin) participated in the meeting as a plenary speaker. We thank all the speakers and participants of the symposium!

Quantum Korea 2025 (06.24 - 26)

Our lab participated in the event at the booth of the Department of Quantum Information Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University.

We had the valuable opportunity to engage in meaningful exchanges with experts from academia, industry, and research institutes in the field of quantum information.

Sutdy at University of Wisconsin-Madison

Hosung, Jaewook, and Taejoon visited the Yuan Ping group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for collaboration. Thank you, Yuan for inviting us and providing us a great research environment. It was such a great time to be there. We will continue our successful collaboration for sure in the future.

아주대학교 개교 50주년 기념 행사의 일환으로 최근 많은 관심을 받고 있는 양자 컴퓨팅 및 양자물질에 대한 심포지엄을 조직하고 주최하였습니다.

(04.01) Hosung Seo joined the KIST Center of Quantum Information as an adjunct researcher (KIST 겸임 연구원 참여). KIST and our group started a new collaborative research project on quantum error corrections using the diamond NV centers. (양자잡음과 양자오류정정의 관계에 대한 KIST - 아주대 공동 연구 위탁 과제 착수.)

Defects in solids for quantum technologies 

(06/12-17/2022, Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden)

We participated in the DSQT 2022 workshop held at Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden. It was an exciting 'off-line' meeting where we discussed solid-state quantum information science and technologies based on solid-state defect qubits.

2020

(04.06) We finally get our new office at Woncheon 436-1! Congratulations!

(03.01 - 03.03) The whole group attended the APS March meeting, Denver, CO, USA. We went there but, unfortunately, the meeting was canceled due to the COVID-19 situation, so we had to come back and we couldn't give a talk. So bad for the students! By the way, it turned out that this cancellation of the APS meeting was the beginning of a series of cancellations of international meetings and conferences in the year of 2020. This three-day trip to Denver will be memorable to us for a long time! 

2019

(11.28 - 11.30) Joo-yong, Dong-gyu, and Jaewook gave poster presentations at the ASIAN-22 electronic structure workshop held at the Osaka University, Osaka, Japan. Excellent work!

(10.01) New research grant! We are now participating a collaborative research project on developing 5-qubit diamond based quantum computers in collaboration with KIST (양자정보연구단) under the NRF grant of development of fundamental technologies for 3+2 years. (한국연구재단 원천기술개발 과제 - 양자컴퓨터). Congratulations! Way to go! 

(09.25-09.27) Huijin, Dong-gyu, and Jaewook gave poster presentations and Hosung gave an invited talk at the IBS conference on Quantum Nanoscience held in Seoul, Korea. Great job!

2018

(12.04) A book chapter titled "First-principles modeling of interface effects in oxides", for which Hosung participated in as a co-author is now published. The chapter can be found in the 2nd edition of Handbook of Materials Modeling (Springer, 2019). Congrats!

(11.08) Dong-Gyu received the best award from the presentation competition sponsored by the college of nature science of the Ajou university, Korea. Congrats! Way to go!
